VDK - installation

VDK installation and trouble shooting

Download the VDK from our downloads section. Run the installer. Its as easy as that.

If you are having problems installing the VDK or executing VDK code, then you can trouble shoot using the following steps:

  1. Check that the core VDK files installed. Do this by navigating to your installation directory.
  2. Check that VDK home has been set. Navigate to windows environment variables and confirm that system environment variable VDK_HOME exists and the value of that variable is set to your VDK installation directory. If it is not there or not set then create the variable under system section and set the value to the directory in which you installed the VDK. Do not end VDK_HOME with a trailing backslash.
  3. confirm that VDK COM objects are registered. DLL and WSC components reside in directory {VDK_HOME}\VDK\lang\System\bin . Run the following commands via an ADMIN shell (this will fail if you are not running with elevated privileges): 
    
                                                                    regsvr32 "%VDK_HOME%\VDK\lang\System\bin\initialize_vdk.wsc"
                                                                    c:\windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "%VDK_HOME%\VDK\lang\System\bin\initialize_vdk.wsc"
                                                                    regsvr32 "%VDK_HOME%\VDK\lang\System\bin\VSTLBINF.DLL"
                                                                    c:\windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32.exe "%VDK_HOME%\VDK\lang\System\bin\VSTLBINF.DLL"
  4. If you are still getting errors after trying the previous steps, please create a new thread on our forum board and we'll investigate the possible cause and solution.
